Our story

We're from here

Country Web Design works out of Dora, Alabama — a town where the hardware store still knows your name and a handshake still counts for something. We wanted to build a web company that worked the same way.

Too many small businesses have been sold a website by somebody they never met, in a city they'd never visit, for a price nobody explained. Then the thing sits there — slow, half-finished, impossible to update — until they give up on it entirely and go back to word of mouth.

That's a shame, because a good website is one of the best deals in small business. It works nights, it never calls in sick, and it costs less than a part-time employee. It just has to be built right and looked after by somebody who cares whether it works.

So that's what we do. We take on a small number of projects at a time, we build every one to order, and we stay on the hook after launch. If you call the number on this website, a person from Walker County will answer it.

I grew up in the country, and that's where I started my first web business, Chenango Web Design LLC — building sites for the shops, trades and family businesses around me.

A lot of them had been quoted thousands of dollars for a website and hundreds a month to keep it running. Country Web Design is built on the opposite idea: a good, fast website at a price that makes sense for a small business, and a real person to call when something needs changing.

Since then I've built websites for an archaeology firm in upstate New York, a fabrication shop that's been in Oakman since 1971, a Birmingham steel supplier, a lawn and landscaping company, a healthcare practice and a small-town government, among others — they're all in the portfolio. Most of my work now is right here at home: web design, hosting and local SEO for businesses across Walker County.

You'll get a written scope and a fixed number before any work starts. If something changes mid-project, we tell you what it costs before we do it — not after.

Clean code, few dependencies, no plugin towers waiting to fall over. A site we hand you should still be running fine in five years with sensible upkeep.

Your domain, your files, your content, your accounts — all in your name. If you ever want to take the site elsewhere, we'll help you pack it up. No hostages.
