Built here, for here

A Walker County web designer

Country Web Design is based in Dora. We build fast, honest websites for the shops, trades, churches and family businesses across Walker County — from Jasper to Carbon Hill and everywhere in between.

Walker County was formed in 1823 and named for John Williams Walker, Alabama's first U.S. senator. By 1900 it was second only to Jefferson County in coal production, and the railroad towns that grew up around those mines are still the heart of the county. Most of them are small, and their businesses don't need a big-city agency. They need a website that loads fast on a phone, says plainly what they do, and makes it easy to call.

That's what we build, starting at $400, with hosting and maintenance at $200 a year — no monthly bill, and you own everything. When you want more customers to find it, local SEO picks up from there.

And the smaller places

Every corner of the county

Some of our favorite places don't need a page of their own to get a good website. If you're in one of them, we'd love to hear from you.

Nauvoo

Started out as Blackwell's Crossing — Joshua Blackwell turned down having the town named after him, so Tom Carroll suggested Nauvoo after the Illinois town he'd admired. Actor Pat Buttram was raised here, the Nauvoo Depot Museum sits on the site of the original depot, and the antique car show has run on the third Saturday in June since 1995.

Townley

A coal town that incorporated in 1895 and was the county's fourth-largest town by 1920. Boshell's Mill, a historic gristmill and sawmill site on Lost Creek near Townley, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Kansas

Named for the state of Kansas, with roots going back to James Tittle's arrival in 1822. Kansas Day, held the Saturday before Memorial Day, raises money for the Kansas Veterans Memorial Park.

Sipsey

A planned coal town laid out in 1912 by mining engineer Milton Fies. Its eastern edge sits on the Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior River — good for boating, swimming and fishing.

Eldridge

Once called Camp Springs, for the springs travelers stopped at along the 1822 state road to Tuscaloosa. It's named for Eldridge Mallard, reportedly the road's first tollgate keeper, and every December the Eldridge Toy Run raises money for the Freewill Baptist Children's Home.

Quinton

A small community a few miles south of Dora, close enough that we're practically neighbors.

Questions

Web design in Walker County: questions

Do you only work with Walker County businesses?

Walker County is home and where we focus, but we build sites for small businesses anywhere. Being local just means we can meet in person and we know the area.

How much does a website cost?

Most small-business sites cost $400 to $1,400, one time. Hosting and maintenance is $200 a year. You get a fixed price in writing before any work starts.

Do you build sites for towns and churches?

Yes. We've built municipal websites and church sites, and they're a natural fit for a small-town designer.

How long does it take?

Usually a few weeks for a small business site. The biggest factor is how quickly we can gather your photos and information.
